Great ways to get started scrapbooking

19 02 2008

If you’ve never scrapbooked before, here are a few tips to get you started;

1. Gather the pictures you want to scrapbook. You can use old photos or have them scanned and duplicated if you don’t want to remove them from your current albums or photo box.

2. Go to a scrapbook supply store. Look at the displays of finished products. While you’re there, you can pick up the materials used in the finished pages. A friendly salesperson is even available there to assist you.

3. Purchase a scrapbooking magazine or book. You’ll see different techniques people use. After that, you can decide what kind of style you want to do with your scrapbooking.

4. Attend a scrapbook page making class or participate in demonstration parties. You get to see other people work on pages first hand. This is a good way to ask questions and also meet other people who are interested in scrapbooking.

5. Visit scrapbooking websites. Many scrapbook websites have galleries of the finished projects of the products they are selling. You can freely look at them for inspiration or even buy materials you find useful on the project you have in mind. There are also scrapbooking communities on line. They are a great way to connect to other scrapbookers and learn from their experience.

6. Join a monthly scrapbooking club. They send you enough supplies each month to work on projects you want to accomplish. They also hand pick and coordinate the products they send you like papers, embellishments and layout ideas.
